Open Book
I am an open book
my soul's prose
written on each
timeworn page
I want you to read me
so you remember
my past
........present
................... future
scripted by the words
that have been written
with my heart
I want you to understand
every line
............passage
....................chapter
making notations
highlighting words
underlining
each memory
so you will not
forget
all I am
in your hands
I am an open book
my soul exposed
with every letter
dancing in your mind
drawing pictures
.............thoughts
.......................memories
of all that I
have become
because of you
I am yours to read
to know like
the back of your hand
.............your heart
.......................your soul
would you like
to know
my story?

Lyrics to "the Blowers Daughter" by Damien Rice
"The Blower's Daughter"
And so it is
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time
And so it is
The shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her sky
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...
And so it is
Just like you said it should be
We'll both forget the breeze
Most of the time
And so it is
The colder water
The blower's daughter
The pupil in denial
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...
Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
Leave it all behind?
I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind...
My mind...my mind...

Birthday Wishes
~A slice of love from my soul sister G~
Within the past week I have the innate sense to recreate everything...a good and bad quality of mine. Good in the sense that I have high standards, bad in the sense that it always costs me money :P I do suppose it is because as I evolve, I change my vision and I want that inner vision reflected outward. It it bad to have this change swirl all around me?
So, on my birthday I want to list a few things that I am thankful for...share them with you, my friends:
************************************************
I am thankful for...
~ my family, my small little unit of love that keeps my heart afloat
~my friends, they fill my life with laughter and craziness...they are priceless to my sanity
~ being able to wake up every day on this earth and feel that I am alive
~my growing sense of Spirituality, my increased abilities and connection to all things spiritual
~my ability to create and share beauty with the world
~ the knowing that all challenges and obstacles are what have shaped my soul
~ the drive and determination to be self employed...I still need to overcome the fear of no safety net
~ my wings to fly
Thank you to all who have wished me beautiful greetings this day...I love you all!
XO

Merry Christmas
From this day forward
live in the moment
let the embers of your
soul fire
alight
with passion
and love
for
yourself
for others
the less fortuante
the
least obvious
give
with all your
heart
and watch
as
LOVE
Lights
Your
Soul
Wishing you all God's greatest gift this year. May you give your love freely, and accept it back just the same. May you share your love with those who need it most and receive the bliss of being loved in return.
XOXO

A New Year...Snow Days, Words and New Beginnings
~*::The stream behind my home...can you see the snow falling?::*~
The snow was gently falling that day. The stream had frozen over and everything was covered with a generous, prisitine fluffy blanket. It was on this snowy day that I picked the words that will symbolize my year to come. I know that I'm only supposed to pick one, but they just kept on coming at me, fast and furious.
So I give you my Words of 2010...
Fun
Fearless
Fruitful
Forward
Each one symbolizes an aspect of me that I have to work on or a part that I need to support.
Fun...to play more and enjoy more of what life has to offer. With working a full time job and having my own business, I feel that I sometimes (ok, more often than not) neglect that happy part of me that wants to be a kid and make snow angels. I need to be more like that little girl that so desperately just wants to laugh and be free to run with the wind in her hair. This year, I will have fun.
Fearless...to keep those nasty naysayers at bay that lurk deep down inside and love to make oscar worthy cameo appearances just when I think that I can do anything. Most often, they win and I keep wondering if anyone got the license plate of the bus that just hit me! Even today, I have doubts about what will happen later in the day (a llittle secret that I can reveal at another, more appropriate time). Am I good enough to sell myself and my abilities to the highest bidder? This year, I will be fearless.
Fruitful...the word of 2009 was bloom. I spent the whole year growing and learning, unfurling my petals so that the world could see the potential inside. This year, I need to take that beautiful bloom and let it turn into the ripe fruit that will allow me to reap the harvest of life. Even as the blossom is beautiful, it will not sustain and nourish. It is only the fruit of that sweetly scented blossom that can satisfy the body, mind and spirit. This year, I will be frutiful.
Forward...this is the year for momentum. Many lessons have been learned in the past year...some difficult and others just as reaffirmations. Yet, each on has let me create motion, forward motion, to fulfilling my soul destiny. I am not there yet. That is ok. But, the puzzle pieces that have started to come together last year are now making a picture that has some clarity, some direction. That direction is forward.

5 Questions and 5 Answers

So, here it is. I decided to play along with my pal Gracie from Evenstar Art in a little game called 5 Questions 5 Answers. My delightful friend gave me these questions a few days ago, with a sly grin on her face. She knew that they would be hard to answer...hard because they were thought provoking and soul moving.
Question #1:
If you could pick any historical female to apprentice to, who would it be and why?
Answer: It would be Mary Magdalene of course. Graciel knew I would pick her! The why is simple. I think that our gal Mary got a bad rap in history. She was deemed a prostitute that was lowly and "saved" by Jesus with his gospels and teachings. Her figure is further vilified with allusions in the Bible as Jesus' "chosen disciple"...which leads to a whole new set of questions and allusions of her involvement with Jesus on a much deeper level as his wife (gasp). Either way, good or bad, prostitute or saint, Jesus' companion or disciple...she still intrigues me. If you read some of the books that are popular these days, they dream of a woman that carried a great amount of secrecy and deception in her soul, all in the name of popular religion. The possibility that she could have borne children that are of direct lineage to Jesus just makes me want to know more. I really can't explain it, but I feel a strange kinship to her, almost wishing that I could wipe her slate clean and make her name not be "whore", but loving companion, strength, compassion and love.
Question #2: If you were a bird, which would you be and why?
Answer: I would be a chickadee. Why, because I already have conversations with one or more of them on a pretty regular basis. Even the kids say, "Mom, your bird is out. Go talk to it". Of course I have no idea what on earth I'm saying to it! It could be "you're a sweet cabbage that dances in the moon". They probably laugh their pretty little bird heads off when I go back inside.
Question #3: How do you intend to use your personal power to make the world a better place?
Answer: Aha! Loaded question #1! I am going to answer this as best as I can, since this is a work in progress. Over the past few years, I have changed tremendously. I am on an evolutionary path into becoming someone whom I do not know, but have started to love. My personal power has been taken, given freely (or not so freely), usurped, thrown back at me and been denied by the one that needs it the most...myself. It is only now that I am learning to assert the values that come from a deeper level of understanding...from someone much more spiritual, attuned and less judgmental. I suppose the best answer that I can give today, is that I want the precious souls of this earth to know that we have so much more to learn. I want them to uncover their eyes and their hearts and begin to know their true essences, their true destinies. Maybe by my words, I will make this a better place. Maybe by my jewelry, I will give people hope and inspiration that everything will be just fine, one little piece of heaven at a time.
I reserve to edit this one at a further date :)
Question #4: What are the 3 most important Things/ideas/beliefs that you want to teach your daughters?
Answer: Only 3!!!! OK. The first would be to live a fearless life. I have been embroiled by fear all of my life, thinking that nothing would ever be good enough, ever. I want them to be aware of their own personal power, and how to use their intuition to help guide their ways. My intuition has always been very strong, I just chose to ignore it most of the time when it didn't fit what I "should" be doing. I don't ever want them to feel that they shoulda, coulda, woulda. Secondly, to love with their whole heart and soul...even if it hurts. To have a love so divine that it feels heaven sent can change you forever. It normally doesn't last, but that's ok. Thirdly, I would want to teach them to be spiritually connected to God. I don't ever want them to feel that they are alone, because they are not. I have already started their education on this, one that I will gladly teach.
Question #5: If you had 2 free weeks and unlimited money, what would you do?
Answer: Hahahaha...I would buy more time! I would go to the Mediterranean. I would wake up in a different city every day and eat some of the most amazing food. I would take pictures like a madwoman and I would visit as many Churches as possible. Anyone that would like to come along and play would be welcome, since I would have enough money...but it's my trip, so I decide where we go!
Ok! Whew! So who's going to be next? If you would like to play this game, leave a comment for this post and I'll give you 5 questions. When you do, link back to my blog so that we can keep this going!
Are you ready?

The Relic

A relic is something sacred, something that is held with great reverence. It's significance imbued with spirituality, faith, beliefs...and power. It has the power to heal and transform. The power to uplift and give hope. The power to open your eyes and make you fight another day. Shrouded in mystery and lore, most relics are not present in our daily lives. They are things that are alluded to, spoken about in hushed words...or simply not mentioned at all.
If you have been reading along here at my little slice of musing and mumblings, you know that a few months ago I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I want to take this opportunity and thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for their support, kind words, hugs, prayers, healing touch and love. I will never forget the love that I have felt from all of you and hope that one day I will be able to spread that love you have given me out into the world as healing, hope and compassion.
One of the things that was given to me at the time of diagnosis was a relic. Inside the ornate be-glitzed exterior (I thought, how appropriate, no?) was a chip of the bone of Sister Maria Angela Truszkowska, the founder of the Felician Order. This woman defined service to God and put the feminine back into play when religious orders were for men only. A true visionary. So, she slept by my head on the shelf behind my bed every night. I didn't really put her there intetionally, it just seemed to be the right place.
There was one caveat. It was not for me to keep...it was on loan. I was to keep it only enough for its healing love to work its magic, and then I was to return it so that someone else in need would be able to harness its power.
Today I will give it back to its rightful owner.
I received news that there is no function or activity in the "tumor"...really it's just a smudge. There is no blood flow, no glow in the dark indication that it is alive. I am the one that is alive. I am the one with purpose, for the crash course in mortality was given to me for a reason. It was given to me to assess all that I am doing and have done...and what my next steps will be. I can no longer be complacent and let the world pass me by and think that my inaction and indecision will be tolerated by He who has put my soul here. I was forced to see that my gifts and talents are being wasted on things and places that do not mesh with all that makes me who I am.
The relic has made me begin my path with new determination.
Thank you for breaking me open.
Thank you for the long hard look at my life.
Thank you for the love I have received.
Thank you for my second chance.
