My Darling Sophie Girl

We knew that the day was coming.  Every day, we hoped that strength and perserverence would carry her through..along with the steroids and a whole lot of love.  But as the days grew shorter, Sophie's resolve became weaker.  She had started to lose weight again and no longer did she rampage around the house with our Coco kitty pretending that she was queen of the castle (which she was of course!).  Today, her sweet life came to a close surrounded by loving hearts.

Sophie taught me so many important lessons...like how to chill out and take a nap in the sun (Gosh, that does feel good to do).
She taught me how to look at the world from a different perspective...upside down was her favorite.
She taught me not to take any BS from a man, because she is the queen of the castle...and what the queen wants, the queen gets.  Just ask Coco, he'll confirm every story.
Sophie taught me how to be graceful...for even when she was on her last breaths, she looked at you with soulful eyes and knew that it was all going to be ok, no matter what.
She taught me to acknowledge those you care about...for they need to feel needed (especially if they feed you)
And, most importantly...
She taught me that love is simple.  Give it and it will come back to you in so many ways.

I will miss your morning hello as I do my business.
I will miss your purr as I scratch you behind your ears.
I will miss you tripping me on the stairs and nearly killing me every morning as we go to get some yummy food for you and the mister.
I will miss looking into your eyes and seeing your beautiful soul.

Sophie is in a better place, I know.  And, this is a bit sappy...but I have come to find that the outlet to my soul is here, in front of you.  I have no choice but to share it, as many others who have special friends that they call family have faced the same heartbreak.

May God's angels guide you to heaven
on the breath of a dove
far from all the troubles
of your heart
until you are home once again

Oh, I'm so weepy for Sophie! Bless you, Darling, for caring for her. Bless you for being strong enough to let her go.

Much love to all of you. I light a candle tonight to guide her soul to its highest good.

We all fear for this moment, the letting go of a loved companion.
Love to you.

Kasia, what a lovely tribute to your Sophie. Yes, she is in a better place now, maybe even meeting up with our own Gris, who preceded her by several years. And remember, when you see a coin on the pavement (even a single penny) pick it up -- it's from Sophie, reminding you that she's watching out for you. xoxo

Oh, Kasia! This is so hard; I lost my beloved furry boy over two years ago and still get weepy reading this; it is lovely, though, to see your beautiful Sophie here and to know her story and your love for her.You will keep the sweet memories. I love what Mollie said about her watching out foryou xoxo

My heart goes out to you. My Selina is near the end, I thought it would happen yesterday and I imagined writing in my blog about it - then I came across your blog this morning. Thank you for sharing this and thank you for writing the wonderful words about your Sophie.

Kasia, I am so sorry, and yet, you know that the relationship is not over -- just different.

Losing such a young cat is so hard, as we lost a young human friend last year. But I try to remember that it is their suits that were young -- obviously not their souls.

Much peace to you. When I light our Rosie candle this morning, I will think of your Sophie.

Oh, what a beautiful kitty!

I am SO sorry to learn of your loss!

Your tribute is quite eloquent. What great, great love and lessons she brought with her!

As a kindred kitty mom, I send you love, hugs, peace, inner knowing, and healing.

What you wrote about your beloved Sophie brought back SO many memories of when we lost our Bootsie cat. We grieved for a long time. My mind even played tricks on me when I thought I saw her out of the corner of my eye. I still miss her to this day. Cats are special and always will be. They have a way of getting to the corners of our hearts. I never met Sohpie but can totally what you are going through. Know that you gave her a wonderful place here on Earth...now is she is in a wonderful place across the Rainbow bridge and we will see our beloved pets again one day ;-)

Oh Kasia I'm so so very sorry to read (a little late) that your sweetie Sophie is gone. I'll bet she comes around more than often in your home to guide you and give you company my friend.

She will be a cat angel now.
