After the Rain

After the rain

comes coolness

silken petals

wrapped

in comfort

from the heat

of morning

sun

Cinders

I am turning into cinders

my old self is

slowly

rapidly

burning away

I did not realize

what was happening

to me

until I had started to feel

the fire creeping

up my back

I am slowly

burning

to the ground

my emotions

are swirling

dancing like flames

engulfing all that I was

before

I  became

a whisp of smoke

carried away in the wind

I am smouldering

my roots are crackling

breaking by the burden

of the heat that is rising

from within

daring to destroy

the one that has resided

within me

for so long

In my discomfort

the searing delight

that has surrounded

all my escapes

is no longer

an open door

the pheonix

has started to grow

her wings

in the cinders

of my soul
